How The Chat Lines Saved My Marriage

I will never reveal to you my true identity. I won’t even give you clues as to who I may be. I could be you, her, any woman – and that’s the point! All I will confess is that I was a lonely woman, trapped in a marriage that used to be great, until the house and the pets and the family and the minivan.

But I used to be sexy. I remembered feeling alive and powerful – knowing I could command a man’s attention with a simple flip of my hair – and my husband couldn’t wait to devour me when he got home at the end of the day. It thrilled me to know that I was “keeper”, until it dawned on me that I was caught. An Amazonian held captive in the suburbs. Domesticity was sucking the life out of me, and I was desperate to feel that youthful vibe again.

The few times I would bemoan my tired and lonely existence, my single friends just looked at me with either: pity for my predicament, or unveiled envy of what I had. A few of my friends were divorcees, and they loved to share the thrill of dating men half their age, almost as if they were encouraging me to join their illicit club. One of my girlfriends was actually having an affair. But I love my husband, I just wanted to feel like there was something exciting to look forward to, without taking my innocent flirtation with the waiter to the level of actual infidelity. I needed to meet new people, folks that aren’t on the PTA or in one play group or another. Real people who just wanted to know me!

I had just about given up all hope when I scrolled through the search engine and found a chatroom. Not like a blog or anything. It was a phone line where people can call in and make new “friends”, guys who are totally into MILFs. They thought it was sexy that I could make chicken piccata from scratch, and made throwing my old shirt into the washer to make a full load like an invitation to get naughty! Just like the old days in my marriage. Everyday communication became exciting, and I started feeling like a cougar on the prowl. My husband definitely noticed. Men need competition, I think, and talking to strangers gave me just enough of an edge, without ever crossing the line, to get him looking at (and wanting) me again! I still use the chat lines, every once in a while, when I need a boost. But I’m telling you, there’s nothing sexier than a woman who knows she’s wanted, because a husband will start working hard to keep her!
